Resolution
Confirmed- Confirmed cause
- Installed firmware (v4.2.1) was not compatible with the replacement controller board (rev C).
- Action taken
- Firmware updated to v4.3 on site, following SB-24-017. Morning startup checks passed.
- Steps
- Linked the site email, startup log, service record and manual section.
- Compared installed firmware with the board revision (remote).
- Updated firmware to v4.3 on site, per SB-24-017.
- Re-ran morning startup checks — passed.
- Reasoning
- The error began after the board replacement. The log, the board revision and SB-24-017 pointed to firmware compatibility, which the remote comparison confirmed — the same cause as case 1842.

Developing service case
How much does it cost your team to piece together difficult service cases?
Estimated time spent
20 hours / month
≈ £1,200 / month
in service time
20 hours × £60/hour = £1,200/month
Assumes an illustrative £60/hour loaded engineering cost. Actual costs vary.
Estimated annual cost of gathering context
£14,400 per year
240 hours a year
of service-team time
Based on your inputs and an illustrative £60/hour loaded service cost. Actual costs vary.
How this is calculated
20 cases × 1 h × 12 months = 240 hours 240 hours × £60/hour = £14,400/year

- Find where the information effort can be reduced
Why I’m building this
I previously managed a hospital in a remote area, where equipment downtime could have serious consequences for patients and staff.
Since then, speaking with medical-equipment distributors and OEM service teams has shown me the other side of the problem: how difficult it can be to bring together everything needed to resolve a complex service case.
Have a service workflow that takes too much effort to piece together?Where do your difficult service cases get stuck?
Start with one product line and a set of real service cases. We’ll see where the information work around those cases can be reduced.Start with one product line and a set of real service cases. We’ll explore where time is lost gathering context and moving investigations forward.
